I’m launching Entreburnor across new platforms and re-launching on old platforms! It has been a awhile since I was active publishing thoughts and I feel that I owe some explanation, even if just to myself.
As has been said numerous times, over the years, time is the one commodity we cannot buy more of, so you have to use it wisely.
All I can say is know yourself and your goals but live in the moment. We plan and then something happens to throw those plans off. We look forward to something and then it occurs wildly differently than we imagined. If you remain rigid to plans, you will likely break in frustration and lost delusions; if you are flexible but anchored, you can enjoy or grow from whatever ends up coming your way.
This has been quite a year for us. Truthfully, we have had more eventful seasons in our lives but this season(s) has truly been a lesson in shifting priorities, adjusting expectations, and being flexible in the moment. Multiple bouts of sickness, including strep, a car accident (everyone is ok!), new car purchasing, travels, visitors, new jobs, health issues (again everyone is ok), and the ever-constant maintenance required by the even more constant entropic forces around us.
That being said, progress has not been zero. More accurately, and I quote Misters Calvin and Hobbes, progress has gone “Boink!” and been a little bit all over place. Inspiration runs rampant, time not so much.
What I have been doing, on the entrepreneur front, is writing stories for Mirth and Company. In case you’re new or have forgotten, it is my goal to make a company called Mirth and Company into a platform for sharing stories. Since I am not an illustrator nor do I wish to shop these stories around to publishers, I am first sharing them as a podcast. To get there entails writing the stories, editing, and, most importantly, recording the stories into an audio format.
With all of the aforementioned goings-on, you may be able to imagine the pace of progress. However, momentum is power. Afterall, if force is mass x acceleration and we equate acceleration to building momentum than a small mass can grow into quite a force! My goal is to create that small mass by doing something, the next thing, each time an opportunity presents itself.
I’m working to break the workflow down into manageable pieces so that I know what to work on next and not spend a lot of time, in the moment, planning and brainstorming next steps. I would rather put that energy towards creativity.
So that is what I’ve been doing. Something. Stories are being moved from my brain to the written word. They are being editing, cleaned, and reviewed. And, recordings are being made and, then, usually deleted, and re-made, and improved. I’m a writer not a performer but I like to learn.
Why re-launch EntreBurnor if I’m working towards a podcast? For a variety of reasons, but they boil down to variety, inspiration, and accountability.
Variety. I cannot focus on one thing all the time. On EntreBurnor, I want to share thoughts on business and life in general, chronicle parenting, discuss adoption, and explore other side hustle and entrepreneurial activities.
Inspiration. I hope to help others (and be helped!) see that they too can work on the side and/or for themselves. That accomplishment largely boils down to get started and keeping moving. There are so many stories told from the point of success when history gets molded into a narrative when at the time it was a chaotic mess. I would like EntreBurnor to be a journal of what happens at the beginning.
Accountability. If I know that I’m expected to share, then that is one more push to accomplish something even through fatigue, boredom, or shame. If others are gaining value, then so much the better! Working together is much more inspiring than working alone.
I plan to post longer form Monday’s and Thursday’s on here and Medium but shorter form near daily on Instagram and Threads. It will not all be work, plan on seeing the kids, jokes, and generally whatever pops into my mind plus projects and hobbies from Alyse, Calvin, and other friends!
I hope that my journey, my struggles, my mistakes, and all that I am learning can inspire and support you on your journey!
